  • Dr Charu Khurana has completed her MBBS and internship from Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) followed by MS in Ophthalmology from Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC). She has done her Senior Residency from Guru Nanak Eye Center, MAMC. She has also obtained the qualification of the Diplomate of National Board (DNB).
Experience
  • Dr Charu Khurana has been with Centre for Sight since 2008 and is presently a Senior Consultant. Prior to that she was at Guru Nanak Eye Centre, Maulana Azad Medical College for 6 years. In addition she has also worked at Shroff Charity Eye Hospital, Daryaganj and at MM Eyetech Hospital. In 2010, Dr Charu completed an observership training program in glaucoma at the Edward Harkness Eye Institute, Columbia University, New York.
  • Dr Charu is an experienced surgeon for cataract surgery including femto-cataract and micro-incision cataract surgery as well as for glaucoma surgery. She also performs various refractive surgery procedures including SMILE, iLasik, CV lasik, PRK, ICL, intra-corneal ring segments and corneal cross-linking for keratoconus treatment. Additionally she heads the Low-vision aid wing of CFS and helps to guide patients regarding the best low-vision aids treatment for them including the latest state-of-the-art devices available at CFS.

Research and Designation

  • Dr Charu has performed research on pediatric cataract surgery technique modifications during her dissertation and published papers on the same. In addition her work on Amblyopia therapy has been part of the official guidelines of All India Opthalmological Society. She also has numerous publications on topics including femto-lasers, glaucoma, refractive surgery and low vision aids and has made multiple national and international presentations on the same. Her chapters are a part of many textbooks of Opthalmology and guide both under-graduate and post-graduate students. She is a member of All India Opthalmological Society (AIOS) and Delhi Opthalmological society. She is on the editorial board of Delhi Journal of Opthalmology and has been an instruction course evaluator for AIOS. She has also been a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS). She has traveled extensively across the world and delivered many faculty lectures which have been very well-appreciated.
